Why should we hire The Bear Necessities Home Watch Service? We are enthusiastic, efficient and trustworthy. Our goals are:
Is the Bear Necessities Home Watch Service bonded? Yes, we are bonded & insured.
What do you do if you find something wrong? First contact is to you, the homeowner. If you are unavailable we will contact the alternate contact you list on your Emergency Contact Information form. On the Emergency Contact Information form we ask you to provide us with your preferred list of local service companies / trades people (i.e. plumber, electrician, hot tub maintenance, etc). If we cannot reach you and the situation is an emergency, we will contact your preferred trades person. If you do not have a preference we can contact a service from our list to make the repair. If the problem is a break & enter or vandalism, we will contact the police immediately.
How often will you check our home? Twice a week, every 72 hours or as mandated by your insurance company. Home Checks should be made more frequently in the winter. Please let us know what you need/want and we will attempt to accommodate you.
Whose equipment (lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc) do you use? We use our own equipment. If the job is subcontracted, the company would supply their own equipment.
What type of house cleaning products do you use? We clean with “green” environmentally friendly products. If you wish to have a preferred cleaning product, we ask you to supply the product plus any specific instructions. Please list these details on your Customer Instruction Form.
How do we know our personal information is kept safe? The Bear Necessities Home Watch Service uses the utmost care to protect the safety & security of your personal information, house and automobile keys. Personal information is for company use only and WILL NOT be distributed to third party sources.
Do you offer discounts? We do offer our “Four Neighbour Special”. There is a special discount if four or more homes in the same neighbourhood hire the Bear Necessities Home Watch Service. The Bear Necessities Home Watch Service is a member of the Cranbrook & District Chambers of Commerce. We are pleased to participate in the Chamber Rewards Plan and we offer Chamber Members a 10% discount off of our regular prices. "Members Servicing Members and Members Supporting Members".
What is the maximum length of time we can be away from our home to use your service? Indefinitely, however please check with your home insurance policy for their guidelines.
What is the minimum length of time? One week (some exceptions may apply)
Can you shuttle us to & from the airport? It is in our company's action plan to implement this service in the near future.
Why do I need to have my home watched? Most home insurance policies require regular checks of your home while vacant. More importantly to give you peace of mind travel and home vacancy.
Can you be available to greet deliveries at my home (i.e. furniture, etc) Yes, we can facilitate a delivery to your home.
If we need a routine service call (i.e. hot tub maintenance) or home renovation while away, can you open our home for the service people? Yes, with your written authorization we can open and lock up your home for your service people.
Will you water our house plants? Yes, With detailed instructions from you.
Pets? Do you care for pets? It depends on the type of pet. Please contact us to discuss this option.
We arrive late on Friday night and need groceries for breakfast. Can you stock our fridge? Yes, Please give us your order and we will deliver your groceries. Please allow 48 hours notice for this service.
We are only in town for a three day weekend. We don’t want to worry about going to the liquor store. Can you do a beer/liquor run for us? Yes, we can fill your order. Please allow 48 hours notice for this service.
We have been away from home for an extended period of time. It would be great to have the house freshened up before our arrival. Will you do this for us? Yes, we would be pleased to provide this service.
Friends/family want to use our home for a vacation. Can you meet them with the key? Will you clean our home after they leave? Yes, at your request we can meet your friends/family to pass along a key to your home. We can have your home cleaned after they leave.
We are expecting a courier delivery prior to our arrival home. May we have it couriered to your business address? Yes, we can receive/pick-up a courier delivery for you.
How are your rates established? Snow removal & lawn mowing is based on an hourly rate.
My home is equipped with a security system. Will you be our local contact in the event of a break-in? Yes!
How do we pay? Our customers pay by cash or cheque.
